Default Anyone watching the olympics?

I saw how the US men's team barely was able to beat france in the 4x100m relay last night which was pretty cool. Halfway on the last leg of the relay I was thinking that the US wasn't going to catch up, and then all of a sudden that Laser guy on the US squad started catching up to the frenchman and won by .08 seconds. Talk about photo finishes.

Also team volleyball is a little better than beach volleyball. For beach volleyball from what I've seen most of the women really aren't good looking enough for me to be interested and I don't like how 2x2 plays in relation to 6x6. For 6x6 it seems like there is so much more to the game than 2x2. For most of the competitors I really think I'd be happier if they put on some tanktops and shorts. While I'm thinking about it, is it wrong to root for other country's teams if they are cuter and their players don't have names of male NASCAR drivers?

In woman's gymnastics I feel kind of sorry for the US team because several players got injured and were limited to one event. Didn't see all of it because it was getting too late for me to see the rerun of the whole event.

i've been watching a lot of it.

Winterclaw, you should feel even worse for that US team because there were a lot of falls/screw ups.

i feel bad for the women in the bicycle marathon, as they got heavily rained on, and had to go a lot of miles (around 75 mi maybe?)

I don't get to see shit with the Australian coverage, the Seven Network only show the swimming. What a bunch of morons.

nope, no need its plastered on everything else---everywhere (I havent watched any of it yet I know that the swimmer has won 2 medals....)....its very hard to go anywheres and not hear about it.....

if I want info I will surf the internet as there is less commercials and I can pick what I want info on instead of watching hours of ping pong (sorry that was the last summer olympics----)

No, it's completely OK. It's the only real reason I watch the Olympics anymore.

Ever since they allowed pro athletes to compete in basketball, it's just become the NBA All-Star game if they divided the teams up into countries instead of conferences. Not fun.

Also, almost every American gymnast/swimmer/other obscure Olympic sport competitor is probably on 'roids. Come on, women don't naturally get gigantic triceps and deep voices like that.

The only sport I watch for the sporting in the summer Olympics is diving. I don't know why, I just think it's cool to watch.

In the winter Olympics, I watch hockey, luge, ski jumping, some snowboarding, and some speed skating.

Been watching it, some events are more exciting than others. I do prefer winter olympics (Being a hockey player). Winter olympics are just more fun imo.

SBS is broadcasting events too, mostly the ones that Australia isn't in. But it doesn't help that our media is obsessed with swimming, I'll give them some credit though, I did get to see the diving that we missed out on a bronze by .4 of a point.

i only watch, diving, gymnastics and Tae Kwondo or judo. As none of these is swimming Australia won't broadcast more than three seconds of it... So i'm generally avoiding the olympics this year...

Especially after the sheer idocy of our commentators of the opening ceremony. God i wanted to punch them in their stupid mouths to get them to stop talking and showing the nation how idiotic they are. Perhaps someone else was using the family brain cell that day.

I've always wanted to do that to our commentators as well, so irritating, their knowledge or lack there off about the program they are commenting on .... and get send to Beijing for the opening and get paid tons of money to do it too... sigh.

Yes because constantly training for gymnastics/swimming and lifting weights will never do that too you! >< Those both take a TON of upper body stregnth and constantly doing that WILL give you unnatural muscles. They train extremely hard and grow those unnatrual muscular look. Plus all Olympic athletes are tested constantly for steriods. Some even seek out steriod tests to prove they are not taking preformance enhancing jobs. (Dana Torres)

Not exactly. There are
a) Protein Supplements
b) Legal(and popular) muscle building drugs
c) Banned performance enhancing drugs

Only (c) is banned, a guy can spend all his life in a gym but he won't get to the level of these athletes without (a) and (b).

This is not true, eating a healthy and balanced diet will do the same job, the only reason the athletes use a and b is because it will speed up the process, but it is stil reachable without using a and b, but as they are legal there is no point not using them.
